Welcome to Marketing Matters at the University of Derby!

Marketing is a broad and diverse subject area covering strategy, communications, public relations, advertising, sales promotions, key account management, customer behaviour, digital and social media, corporate social responsibility, sustainability, creativity, behaviour change and much more. It is sometimes misunderstood to mean only the promotional efforts that are seen by the target audience but is in fact an essential part of modern business and management. Marketing concepts and tools are also used by not-for-profit organisations, charities, local and national government, and international non-governmental organisations. Marketing is also not always about ways to ensure commercial or fundraising success. Sometimes it is about raising awareness, promoting ideas and doing good for people and society.
